HeadGym is providing a service in Redditch that my constituents have and are continuing to find helpful. Innovation in the area of mental health services is required, and this service provides this, and also helps raise awareness. It could prove a valuable therapy to patients in distress if it became available more widely.
Becky Hendry (Family support) 2016
HeadGym/Life Coaching has been a breath of fresh air. My organisation (Redditch and Bromsgrove Early Help) has been using (and part-funding) the service for the last 12-18 months, and we’ve been amazed at the results clients have achieved (where other more specialist services i.e. CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services have failed). The evaluations/impact evidence provided by clients speaks for itself!!
My team/I have requested support for a number of young people (aged 14-16), and the majority have presented with some extremely complex issues, including self-harm, suicidal thoughts, eating difficulties, sexuality issues and risk-taking behaviour, and we’ve seen these young people make massive strides in relatively short periods of time. Neil’s flexibility in terms of when/where he sees clients is also a factor (using school and community settings rather than clinical venues). His use of skype has also been well received by our young people.
This is an invaluable service which must continue. It’s plugged the gap in mental health services available locally in a big way, and in my opinion, is proving much more effective that tradition psychological/psychiatric interventions.
Schools have also recognised the value of this service, and are referring more and more young people in for support.
Louise Langston (Early help manager) 2016
The work that Head Gym has carried out with families in Bromsgrove and Redditch has been invaluable. The impact that the work has had on young people and parents has proved to be a long term solution which prevents other interventions later on.
The outcomes on young people, in particular, are outstanding and we need this service to continue and be even more widely available.

HeadGym is a much needed service in our area, it enables people to access mental health services easier and quicker to improve emotional wellbeing. Attending the service can improves quality of life in general and provide better early experiences for children whose parents have received help. Neil Ordish is always responsive and willing to help, he has flexible approach when working with both service users and professional building good relationships. Feedback from adults that I have referred so far has been positive and life changing for them as they learn to manage their own anxieties. It is comforting to know that we are privileged to have this service to refer to.
I have trained with Neil and also been coached by him. If you’re looking for someone to guide you through 1-on-1 coaching or group coaching Neil has both the skills, rapport and heart to give you his best. He has a great way of putting you at ease, and will instill the self confidence in you, to achieve the results you are striving for. He will also provide you with the necessary tools that you need today to strive for success, and is great at adapting his approach to get the best out of differing individuals.
I have found this course very helpful in every aspect of my life. I have had drug and alcohol problems and this course has helped me get back on track and set myself achievable goals for my future. I would definitely recommend this course to people from all walks of life.
Neil has been a key member of the Redditch Mental Health Action Group since its inception in 2013 and has brought a huge amount of knowledge and understanding to the group as well as being willing to give up an extensive amount of time to try and improve the mental health of people within the borough. Upon meeting Neil, it’s immediately apparent he is hugely passionate about helping others but not only that, he has the skills and know-how to do so. His mentoring project launched with other members of MHAG is inspiring and just what Redditch needs. I would recommend anyone to talk to Neil and see if he can help them.
In the two years that I have known Neil he has been a committed member of the Redditch Mental Health Action Group – the group meet monthly for anyone with an interest in improving mental health services and tackling the stigma surrounding mental health. Alongside the action group Neil supports the weekly support group for people with mental illness. The support group and the action group have been active in trying to improve and plug the gaps in provision for people with mental health needs across the town.
During that time Neil has led the mentoring scheme, a small team who provide one to one support for individuals with low level mental illness. Now in its second phase it has been crucial to reducing the need for individuals to seek more intensive therapies or support. I know one client personally, whose quality of life has massively improved due to the support Neil has given him and there are many others that I am aware of.
Neil is a reliable, positive person, who quietly gets on with improving the lives of people with mental ill health. He can be judged on the work he does and the difference he makes to the lives of the people he is working with. Another example of his dedication has been how much of Neil’s work has been unpaid in order to maintain continuity with his clients while funding streams have been worked up. Neil is a valued and active member of the community he serves and I have no hesitation in recommending his services.
Neil is a great thoughtful communicator. He allows all members of a group to participate fully. He always has a clear goal in mind with whatever he does. I would recommend him as a coach and trainer, and I’m sure you will enjoy the experience.
Neil’s help has provided noticeable improvements for me since the very first session. He has pushed me to achieve tasks I have always struggled with by breaking them down into easily achievable goals until I could begin tackling them alone. With Neil’s support I have made significant improvements to my personal development and always finish the sessions feeling great and motivated for the next one.
Neil is a talented, compassionate and caring practitioner who calls on a variety of coaching and NLP tools to work with others. I can happily recommend his fun and interactive style of training which helps guide his clients to new ways of thinking and being.
Neil is what I would call a grounded, no nonsense coach. In my time as his supervisor I have been impressed by His professional approach to the valuable coaching service that he provides. He is always conscientious, caring and thorough In his commitment to clients. Perhaps the best thing about Neil though is that he walks his talk. In my many years working with and around coaches This is a rare thing and means that he carries the integrity and self-belief in his methods that ensures he always gets great results.’
The course has given me an insight and the tools to be less introverted and a better understanding of all individuals.
This course is magic, it has helped me to take full responsibility for my life and has shown me ways to manifest my dreams.
